Today, I tried several experiments to see which works.

Internet <---> Ethernet <---> MBP <---> WiFi (Airport enabled) <---> iPad (THIS WORKS)

Internet <---> iPhone 3GS <---> USB <---> MBP <---> WiFi <---> iPad (WORKS)
